This document specifies the requirements for rubber tubing and hoses used in diesel fuel circuits for internal combustion engines. The diesel fuels covered include "bio-diesels" which consist of the methyl ester of rape seed oil at levels up to 20 % by volume in conventional diesel fuels. This document can also be applied as a classification system to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to detail a "line call-out" of tests for specific applications where these are not covered by the main types specified (see example in Annex E). In this case, the hose or tubing would not carry any marking showing the number of this document but can detail the OEM's own identification markings as shown on their part drawings.

Overview

ISO 19013-1:2019 specifies requirements for rubber hoses and tubing used in diesel fuel circuits for internal combustion engines, including compatibility with biodiesel (FAME) up to 20% by volume. The standard defines materials, dimensions, performance tests, marking and classification so manufacturers, OEMs and test labs can verify that fuel lines perform reliably across temperature and pressure ranges typical of vehicle fuel systems.

- Low-temperature flexibility (ISO 10619-2) - no cracking at −40 °C.
- Fuel resistance (SAE J2260) for 5 000 h at 80 °C including biodiesel blends.
- Ozone resistance, heat-ageing (ISO 188), kinking, suction, internal cleanliness limits and extractables.
OEM customization
- Can be used as a classification system for OEM “line call-outs” (Annex E); custom hoses may carry OEM marking rather than the ISO number.
Testing annexes
- Normative and informative annexes cover cleanliness, tear resistance, surface contamination, life-cycle, type approval and production tests.

Applications and users

Primary users: automotive OEMs, hose and tubing manufacturers, quality/validation engineers, test laboratories and suppliers for fuel-system components.
Practical uses:
