IEC 61755-3-10: 2016 defines certain dimensional limits of a 125 mm diameter single mode silica fibre optical interface and an alignment bore to meet specific requirements for non-angled fibre-to-fibre interconnection as defined in IEC 61755-2-1. The silica fibre materials specified in this document are suitable for use in categories C, U, E and O as defined in IEC 61753-1.

Abstract

Overview

IEC 61755-3-10:2016 specifies dimensional and material limits for non-angled, ferrule-less, bore alignment connectors used with non-dispersion shifted single‑mode physically contacting fibres (125 µm cladding). The standard defines the optical interface geometry between fibre end faces and the alignment bore to ensure reliable, low‑loss non‑angled fibre‑to‑fibre mating in accordance with the performance requirements of IEC 61755-2-1. Materials and mechanical constants for the silica fibre are also given to support predictable contact deformation and optical performance.
