What is BS EN 610 – Tin and tin alloys about?

BS EN 610 is a European standard that discusses the ingot tin for tin alloys. The properties of tin make it ideal for use as a coating. Owing to the low melting point of tin, and because it readily alloys with most other metals, tin coatings can easily be produced by immersing a suitably prepared metal object in a bath of molten tin. BS EN 610 specifies the requirements for the chemical composition, surface condition, sampling, analysis, inspection documentation and marking for five grades of ingot tin. The grades of tin included in BS EN 610 are those which are traded internationally.
